Mid-century Modern Getaway in South Palm Desert, walk to hiking, dining, and shopping!!!

Ever craved your own Mid-Century Modern desert oasis? This is it! Designed by renowned architect Walter S. White, this post and beam gem features exquisite details of modernist styling. Clerestory windows and walls of glass allow for brilliant natural lighting. The angular roof line cuts a striking silhouette against the nearby Santa Rosa Mountains. Surrounded by palm trees and lushly landscaped, this secluded home provides a private resort-like feeling.

This private mid-century bungalow is set far back on the property. Open floor plan living room/dining area, and kitchen spill onto the large and lush covered patio. Two large bedrooms, one with a king size bed and the other with a queen.

SLEEPING ARRANGEMENTS

Bedroom with king offers commanding view of pool and lush backyard greenery through 45 degree glass window wall.

Bedroom with queen features room-length windows showcasing the backyard as well as 43" flat screen tv with Roku and connectivity to Hulu, Netflix, HBO Go with your subscriptions. There's one lovely bath with tub/shower combination.

OUTDOORS

Eat dinner al fresco on the expansive covered patio, or simply lounge on the supplied outdoor furniture and enjoy the peak-a-boo views of the Santa Rosa Mountains. Soak in the 4 person above ground spa after your hike. The distinct kidney-shaped pool is perfect for cooling off all day and night in the warm summer months. At night, star gaze around the propane fire pit out back. Pool is not heated.

INDOORS

Flat screen TV in living room equipped with Apple TV. Games, puzzles, telescope, pickleball/tennis racquets are also available for guest use. Ample parking in covered carport and driveway. Full Size washer and dryer in covered carport. We are looking for guests who will respect this home like their own home and who appreciate the architecture and history of this mid-century gem.

Less than 1/2 mile from El Paseo, 2 miles to The Living Desert, 6 miles to the Indian Wells Tennis Gardens, 12 miles to Coachella Valley Fairgrounds (Music Festivals)

20 minutes to Palm Springs Airport, 2.5 hours to San Diego, L.A. and Disneyland.

The minimum age for this property is 25 years. For Cancelation Policy please refer to the Rental Agreement.

Frequently Asked Questions

GUEST booking the property must be 25 YEARS OLD, & must occupy the property during the entire term of the booking.   The main guest (MG) is responsible for behavior of all occupants.

Maximum OCCUPANCY is provided in the property listing. 2 people per bedroom.  

No excessive NOISE allowed beyond the property. City prohibits renters from using sound devices (radios, sound systems, etc.) & musical instruments outside the rental property between 10 p.m. & 10 a.m. Failure to comply will result in fines, & removal from property without refund.

1 CAR is allowed per bedroom. Guests must use garage & driveway parking. No street parking, no boats, jet skis, trailers or RVs.
 
If a property is not PET friendly, we may allow a pet under certain circumstances. Please inquire. For pet friendly properties please disclose if bringing a pet at the time of reservation inquiry. A non refundable fee of $250 is required. Unauthorized pets will result in fee of $500. 

SMOKING of any kind is prohibited at the property.  Smoke smell/odor found post departure authorizes manager to remediate the smoke smell, & the main guest will incur a fee of $2.10 per sq. ft. times the property square footage per title records.

BBQ only be used if provided by the Owner & do not relocate BBQ. Open flame is prohibited, I.E candle burning, charcoal BBQ’s. Do not dismantle smoke & carbon monoxide detectors. 

All guests & responsible occupant acknowledge use of the pool/spa amenities increase the risk of injury &/or death. POOL AND SPA use is at your own risk. THERE IS NO LIFEGUARD ON DUTY. Use of Pool, Spa and Pool Area amenities can cause serious injury, including death. The occupants accept this risk when booking the property.

POOL HEATING may be added to your booking. Daily pool heating fee is based on current rates of Natural Gas and size of the pool. Please inquire with the booking agent for a quote. 

The manager will request a copy of the main guest ID prior to check in.  Main guest may be required to sign additional agreements. No refunds for early depatures. 

UNINTENTIONAL DAMAGE must be reported to the manager prior to departure. Accidental property damage is covered up to $1,500 by LDW Fee in your booking fee. Accidental damage not reported during the stay will be treated as intentional damage & the cost will be charged to the Main Guest reservation.

If  property is no longer able to honor this reservation due to unforeseen circumstances & out of Manager’s or Owner’s control, Manager will issue a full refund immediately to the Responsible Occupant.

Reservation obtained under false pretense will be subject to forfeiture of deposit, damage deposit, &/or balance of rental payment. If any occupant violates any terms of this agreement, PDVP may terminate this Agreement. PDVP will notify the Responsible Occupant of agreement termination, & the Responsible Occupant will vacate the promise within 3 hours.

Building Codes that are applicable for residential homes are not required for handicap accessibility. This home is not ADA compliant. Manager is not aware of any toxic fungus/mold or other mold which may exceed allowable levels.

Palm Desert Vacation Properties, iTrip or the Owner, do not assume any liability for loss, damage or injury to persons or their personal property. Neither does the owner accept any liability for any inconveniences, damage, loss or injury arising from any temporary defects or stoppage in supply of water, gas, cable service, electricity or plumbing, as well as due to weather conditions, natural disasters, acts of God, or other reasons beyond its control.

Fun Mid-century Modern house in the perfect location! We spent a month and really enjoyed it. We could walk to El Paseo or straight to the hiking trails. Very responsive owners and management company. We would stay again.

What can I say! Hands down my favorite place to stay out in palm desert!!! I’ve stayed at many air b n b’s, and stayed in a few hotels out there but this is the most charming little mid century hide away I’ve ever seen!!! Kept in Pristine condition! One of the bedrooms has a beautiful view of the pool that is spectacular in the evening. And a great shaded patio next to the pool to lounge! I’ve already stay there 2 times and plan on many more!

Attention Snowbirds: Secluded Mid-Century Modern Oasis with private pool

We loved our stay at Tres Palmas. The house is an architectural marvel. We loved sitting outside and watching hummingbirds and butterflies in the garden from the lovely windows. House was well-appointed for our stay. We did some light cooking, and enjoyed our streaming tv accounts at night. The furnishings are stylish and comfortable. We could walk or quick drive to lots of restaurants and stores- anything we needed. We loved hiking in all the mountains around. The access to multiple amazing trails is walking distance. We would love to come back here; we had a wonderful time and absolutely loved the house.

The perfect retreat!

My wife and I had the pleasure of staying here and we scoured the surrounding mountain and desert landscape while reviewing a new motorcycle. This mid-century modern home’s unique architecture with its open beam ceiling and large windows offers a breezy feel further accentuated by a glass sliding door that leads to a covered seating area in the rear yard and produces a welcoming indoor/outdoor living space. Outdoors, the walled property with strategic nighttime lighting offers maximum privacy, vehicles were securely tucked into the carport, and the manicured landscape featuring palm trees standing high above the kidney-shaped pool served as the perfect retreat after a long day on the road. Finally, if you like driving/riding, the house is perfectly situated adjacent to some of Southern California’s best roads – whether you want to traverse the Pines to Palms Hwy from the desert floor to the high-elevation community of Idyllwild, ride twisties to Big Bear Lake, explore Joshua Tree National Park, do a lap around the Salton Sea, visit the colorful Salvation Mountain, take a glimpse inside the Palomar Mt. Observatory, or simply eat some delicious pie in Julian.
