Sanibel - Arthur Frommer’s #1 Destination

Come see why we’re Arthur’s top spot. Enjoy pristine beaches in an unparalleled natural setting. Sanibel is two-thirds nature preserves and both islands have no buildings over three stories. Get away from it all in this peaceful natural setting that still boasts great restaurants, shopping and entertainment.

Fishing and shelling are excellent and Sanibel has over 30 miles of bicycle paths. See exotic wildlife all over the islands and in the Ding Darling nature preserve. Watch dolphin frolic just yards from the beach.

Golf, tennis, canoeing, kayaking, windsurfing, kite-surfing and boating are just a few of the activities available.

Visit Sanibel Island for the trip of a lifetime. The sub-tropical climate and year round sunshine makes these islands the ideal vacation destinations. The pair of islands pride themselves as being natural settings with pristine beaches, having no structure over three stories, and being two-thirds nature preserves.

Enjoy the beautiful beaches just outside your Sanibel Island home with boating, kayaking, water-skiing, or fishing. Play a round of golf on any one of the challenging scenic courses available or spend the day looking for seashells. For some adventure, stray from your Sanibel Island cottages and bike the 30+ miles of bicycle trails, while taking in the breathtaking scenery around you.

Located not far from many of our Sanibel Island rentals is the Ding Darling nature preserve where visitors can see exotic wildlife. Or just take a stroll down the beach and watch the dolphins frolic just yards away.

Not far from both of our island rentals is an assortment of off island day trips available. Visit theme parks, museums, wildlife sanctuaries, nature centers, or even a southern vineyard. Boston Red Sox fans can have the chance to see their favorite team during Spring Training.

For some nightlife fun, visit the many delicious restaurants, artisan shops, and art galleries. Both Sanibel Island and Captiva are home to a number of talented artists that contribute to the large art scene. When visiting the gallery, view and discuss art with the artists themselves. Sample delectably fresh seafood and a wide variety of ethnic foods available.

We just returned home from a 5 week stay at the Bayhouse in Sanibel Island. This house has the most amazing view. Surrounded by water on 3 sides. You have absolutely perfect sunrise and sunsets.. There is no end to the wildlife that we saw every day. My husband loves to fish so we took our boat and kept it at the onsite boat lift. That was very convenient since he fished every day. The pool is the perfect spot to just sit back and relax while taking in the beauty. The house was large enough to accommodate our family and we never felt cramped. All furniture and beds are very comfortable. Kitchen is very well equipped. I would recommend this place to anyone. We will be back!

This was our third visit to this house in the past 3 years - it's our all time favorite place to stay on the island! This house is perfect for our absolutely cannot beat the views (in all directions), the privacy and the tranquility looking out over Tarpon Bay! We pretty much stay in every night until dark just so we can watch the sun set over the bay. Can't even remember how many dolphin and manatee we saw from the point too...endless wildlife in the water and flying overhead. We fished for hours a day off the point and caught tons of snook, ladyfish and some others. Awesome to have the kayaks to just go out for a paddle at any point (which we did just about every day - gorgeous back in the channels off the bay!). The pool area is fantastic - nice pool, some new Adirondack furniture this year, heated, and of course....the views! The house itself is wonderful too - a one of a kind from an architectural standpoint, well appointed, comfortable, clean. There are a few things that could use some updating, but all in all no complaints. The house had everything we need and then some. The only downside of this house is the steps - there are a lot of them you have to go up and down to go in and out of the house (both in front and in back)....but there is also an elevator (which we did not use, as we did not need it, but it's available) - just something to be aware of for people with mobility issues, and very young children. The property manager, Jim, is great to work with - on the rare occasion when we've had an issue he has addressed it immediately. We love this house and hope to be back again and again!

This is the second time we've stayed in this home and we loved it just as much as the first time around! It's a beautiful home with everything you need, but the most amazing feature is the views...spectacular sunsets and privacy! We watched manatees and dolphins daily as if we were in our own private nature preserve and fished from the point catching dozens of fish daily. Loved the pool, and the new upgrades to the lower level are wonderful! Jim (property manager) is very responsive and helpful as well. We can't wait to come back! Thank you!!

It's impossible to put into words how amazing the views are from this house! And, it's perfectly laid out to allow for maximum enjoyment of the constant wildlife that is all around -- dolphins, manatees, osprey, tons of other birds....and spectacular sunsets. Really nice to have a private pool and use of the kayaks as well. The house itself is really cool too. The property manager was very attentive to questions and ensuring we had everything we needed. We hope to get back there to enjoy the amazing Bay House again!

This property exceeded expectations in every department. My only fear is this positive review will ensure full booking, and mean I can't get back to stay here. Location is everything they say. but here it is, well, perfection. It commands a view of Tarpon bay that no other house does, with views across to Pine Island to the right. Pretty much your pwn private beach, Osprey nesting all around, and feeding in front of you, the spit of beach that protrudes into the bay populated by Grey Heron, Egrets, Pelicans, and dozens of other species I couldn't recognise. Add your own pool, Kayaks, games room with a pool table, a dock for a boat, and you'll always find something to do. The interior is beautifully decorated and so comfortable. The Owners have furnished it with impeccable taste, but it is the paintings, ornaments, pictures and eclectic mix of various mementos that make this feel like a home, rather than a vacation property. Stayed for a month, and fantastic service from Jim whenever needed. and instant, helpful and professional responses from John McDonald. 100 out of 100!

I have been coming to Sanibel for many years with my family. It is our tradition to come for a month and this year it was June of 2016. We typically stay near the beach. This year we chose this home because of being on the bay and having a dock. The home was an incredible place to stay and one of the most beautiful settings on Sanibel Island. We rented a pontoon boat for a week and a half during our trip and we also brought a jet ski to enjoy the waters. If you are either a boater or love to fish this is the perfect home. The views are not justified in the pictures. It is even better in person. Fishing right from the beach some evenings was amazing. We cought Jacks, Sea Trout, Snook, Lady Fish and even a nice 3 ft Black Tip Shark right from the beach. The kayaks are also great fun and the back bay areas with the mangroves are a very peaceful area to paddle around. We had daily visits from the dolphins and manatees. The home layout is very nice as well. There is a lower level with a pool table and two beds. Nice for the kids to hang out and have their own space. The upstairs had two bedrooms and then the upper level had a master with a nice size room and great bathroom shower. There were a couple of improvements that need to be made to the home but they did not take away from the vacation. The kitchen is very basic and not quite what you would expect from this level of a home. The fridge had drawers that would fall out when you pull them. We were told there are plans to upgrade. The home also did not have bikes like most of them do. We brought our own and ended up not using them much. You can also easily rent them on the island so not a major issue. The gentleman who oversees this home was more then accomodating and made sure we had everything we needed. He was great to deal with and very helpful. Where ever you go on Sanibel you are going to experience no see ums and mosquitos. We found this home was not quite as bad as some of the other areas most days because there tends to be a nice breeze many days off of the water. You will have to keep in mind if you like going to the beach the travel to get there is not close. I love to fish and relax, my wife likes the beach. This was my favorite Sanibel home so far and my kids loved it too. Next year we will rent a home closer to the beach or on the beach but if that is not an issue you will love this home. I highly recommend staying here and spending a month in paradise. The morning and evening views are just amazing. You will not regreat it!

We sent 4 weeks at the Bayhouse on Sanibel island. It was a wonderful vacation. The house is beautiful located at the end of a small gravel road. You have a fantastic view over the Tarpoon Bay which is a nature preserve. We watched the Dolphins, Manatees, Pelicans and much more from our "private beach". The house has a large living room with a lot of windows for a nice panoramic view. The reservation and Payment with iTrip worked smoothly. The house was in a very clean and tidy condition. The front door has a keyless locking system which is very convenient. You can not lose the keys. Many thanks for the easy and convenient service.
