First email on day of arrival: Thank you for working with us on early check in. We really appreciate that. I did want to take the time to check in and report that the house itself is cool in that we love the layout with the screened porches and dock, but it is very dirty. The walls are dirty. There are cobwebs and dust/dirt throughout. But, the worst is the furniture. It is all fabric furniture and is badly stained. In fact, the couch pillows are so filthy and obviously stained that we took th off of the couches. We did have some sheets and blankets from our camping trip prior to arrival. I have them in the washer and dryer and plan to use them to cover all of the furniture. I rarely complain and can tolerate a lot, but I wanted you to know how bad it is. The house desperately needs to be deep cleaned and furniture deep cleaned or replaced. I don’t know if you have any other properties that are available that we could transfer to, but please let us know if that is an option. I am worried that some of my family that have not yet arrived, but will be arriving later today, may not be willing to stay. I could totally understand if it were just rushed cleaning, as we were asking for early check in, but this is way more. It is unacceptable for a rental property and the price we paid to stay. Please let me know what options we have at this point, if any. Thank you for the time in addressing our issues. Second email following departure: I would like to follow up as I never received a response to my email on Friday evening when we arrived. I am attaching photos so that you can see the horrible stains on all of the fabric furniture and the walls. I didn't photograph everything. It is very bad. Thankfully, we had been camping so we had lots of extra blankets which we had to use to cover up all of the furniture as no one would want to sit on it as it was. We also noted some of the shower curtains were also not clean and some of the bedding. We washed some of the bedding before sleeping in it. It definitely needs to be addressed. We have rented many vacation homes over the years, all over the world, and I have never complained about the cleanliness, but felt you really ought to know as you may not be seeing what renters are seeing when they arrive. It is unfortunate too, because the home is in a great location and our family really enjoyed it, otherwise. I understand the screen porch areas may not be as clean and that was totally fine, and I also understand if it were that they rushed to clean so that we could get an early check in, but this is not anything that could have been addressed with a light cleaning. There really needs to be a deep clean or most likely completely replace the furniture.
