About

The chronicles of the "Old Lighthouse Cottage"-

..........Oh, the stories this house could tell… It was originally situated beside the Oak Island Lighthouse in Caswell Beach for many years, overseeing the comings & goings of the Coast Guard Station and Lighthouse keepers. Just as the famed light was a beacon for incoming ships, this cottage is also beckoning you with its welcoming spirit.

The surprise to this cottage is the beautiful private bungalow downstairs. Enter to find a full sized washer & dryer to launder all the guests’ vacation attire. The walls are a natural pine giving you the feel of the nature that surrounds you. Lie on the queen-sized bed and gaze up at a most interesting and stunning light/fan combination operated with a remote. Choose from 3 colors of white light to wake you up or create a soothing ambiance in the evening. The bathroom has a shower and plenty of towels.

Also beckoning you on the bottom floor is a wooden swing and chairs for conversation in the fresh salt air. Carrying on the theme of the natural wood is an outdoor shower for washing off the sandy fun of the day. A large parking area is great for all your guests to visit.

Head upstairs and gather on the screened front porch to sip your morning coffee or favorite evening beverage. Large windows give the open living area lots of light. The décor immediately bespeaks of your proximity to the sandy shore. Relax on the comfy seating and choose from a wide variety of games and puzzles. There’re even toys for the younger set. Perhaps you want to catch up on your favorite show on the large screened smart tv. Seating for 6 at the dining table and 4 at the bar for overseeing the creation of the next meal. The well-stocked kitchen is large enough for the cook and a helper.

The bathroom with tub and shower is positioned between the two bedrooms upstairs. The front bedroom has a king bed, another tv, a luggage rack and additional seating. The back bedroom is where all the kids will want to spend the evenings streaming movies, playing games, or swapping stories late into the night. It features a bunk bed with a twin bed on top and a full-sized bed on the bottom & another full bed flanks the opposite wall.

This light and airy Old Lighthouse cottage pays homage to its roots when it sat beside one of three lighthouses in our area welcoming ships from the Atlantic into the mouth of the Cape Fear River.

We spent a week at the cottage. It exceeded pur expections! My family found the bungalow bedroom was perfect for my son amd his wife to have some seperate time from the main family. The beach was literally a 2.5 block walk and was stunning. We would recommend this welcoming house to everyone. It was comfortable and had everything. Can't wait to stay again and enjoy the island life!

Old Lighthouse Cottage
5/5 stars
We absolutely loved our stay at the Old Lighthouse Cottage. It was exceptionally clean and well stocked. We lived the outdoor shower and bungalow with laundry! It was all we hoped for during our long weekend away at the beach. The beach access at the end of the street was perfect and not too far to walk to since we were not able to rent a golf cart (all sold out ☹️)! We will definitely stay here again!
