About Marblehead

Founded in 1629, Marblehead was a crucial fishing port during the American Revolution; much of its history can be discovered by navigating through the colorful, narrow streets of Old Town. Like an open-air museum, Marblehead flaunts its history not only in its well-preserved 18th-century houses and architecture, national historic landmarks and local shops are sprinkled throughout the town.

After meandering amongst the quaint Colonial houses, take a tour through Marblehead Neck, which leads to the lighthouse. Marvel at the breathtaking views of Marblehead Harbor, birthplace of the US Navy, & a major sailing capital.

Marblehead’s most popular beach, Devereux, has plenty of picnic tables, playgrounds, and on-site restrooms. Gas House Beach is on Little Harbor. With a rocky shore and small boats anchored in tranquil, shallow water, the scene at Gas House is perfectly New England. Active visitors can enjoy a paddle at King’s Beach with views of Boston.

Wonderful Stay at Hollyhock House
5/5 stars
Our family had a great time staying at the Hollyhock House! The location was awesome with it being right next to the woods with a walking trail and pond for our son to go fishing in. It’s an easy walk into an Old Town, Redd’s Pond, Fort Beach, Grace, Oliver, Beach, The Landing, and Fort Sewell. The home was very comfortable with nice furnishings, comfortable mattresses and soft linens, and a layout that worked well for a family of six. We would definitely return to Marblehead and stay at Hollyhock Housr again! Highly recommend!

Hollyhock House
5/5 stars
Hollyhock House has all the comforts of home! It is nestled next to a beautiful trail and pond, within walking distance to historic landmarks, wonderful seafood restaurants, and many quaint shops. Hollyhock’s convenient location made day trips to nearby towns very easy. Whale watching in Gloucester was amazing! We saw several humpbacks aboard the Saint Ann. The home itself is perfect for a couples trip or family vacation. Unlike many homes in the area it has a large pool and yard. We enjoyed this peaceful seaside town so much and can’t wait to return for another visit.

Lovely home, comfortable and well equipped.
5/5 stars
This house was really comfortable and very well organized. The beds were cozy, the bedrooms were equipped with suitcase caddies, hangers. There were lots of towels and lots of extra pillows and blankets. Very large coffee maker. Everything was really great. I would definitely rent this place again. I was only sorry we didn’t have more time to enjoy the backyard and the lovely walking paths nearby. My only negative, was we weren’t able to reach anyone when there was no hot water on Saturday morning. Fortunately we quickly realized that the oil heater had been turned off and turned it on and we’re back in business. It really didn’t impact us, but it would’ve been nice to have been able to reach someone with questions. Also there was plenty of parking. And I was a little worried based on the description about the size of the rooms, but they were all very comfortable.
