Airbnb Cleaning Fee Question

Important note to Airbnb travel guests about the cleaning/housekeeping fee:

This is a combination of the actual cleaning/housekeeping fee, modest booking fee, and state & local taxes, and not the cleaning fee exclusively.

Our cleaning/housekeeping fees vary based on size of property, number of bedrooms & bathrooms, pool patio homes, garages, etc. They typically range between $125-$325 based on the aforementioned.

The booking fee is $89.

Airbnb does not currently allow hosts to itemize these fees on their site which is why we'd like to explain what otherwise appears to be an excessive cleaning fee expense.

From some pictures I saw of some of the units, I feel like this one is one of the best! The highlight of this space was definitely the floor to ceiling windows and amazing views they afforded. I could have sat for hours just looking out at the water….and was so excited every day when the dolphins showed up. Almost without fail, around noon each day, but also sometimes earlier in the morning. The unit is professionally decorated with very pretty but functional furnishings. Although not a large space, everything is well planned and organized and we were surprised by the amount of beach gear provided in the closet. The shower was rather unique, with a glass partial wall and no door. We happened to have some very cold weather while there (windchills of 29) so it did get a little cool in the room but not so bad that we even bothered to check whether we could have turned on heat or if it was just AC. One thing to be aware of, the pool and deck area don’t receive much sun until around noon. Since our unit looked down over the pool area, I had a front row seat to watch each day as the “regulars” would start showing up around 9 to stake out their spot for when the sun finally hit. They would painstakingly arrange chairs, tables, clip their towels on, lay books and pillows down…..and then leave for a few hours. Most days I counted 17 reserved chairs for a couple hours, even though there was no one actually in the entire pool enclosure. If I had wanted a spot in the sun it seems I would have had to join them in the reservation game or all the good spots would have been taken. Also, be aware, Flippers Grill, the only restaurant on the island, is right next to the pool area and has seating that looks right down onto the sundeck. So not the most private but gives it somewhat of an island feel. The resort location was perfect for us as we had family staying in Naples Park and were able to visit them each day with just a short 20 minute drive. Also able to drive into fort Myers beach for groceries without any traffic issues but that might have been due to the cooler temps. The construction at the entrance to the resort did make it a little difficult to find our first time arriving at night. Some of the hallway areas had a funky smell and I noticed trim missing right outside the door to our unit, but the unit itself was much more impressive than the common areas. Overall, great stay for a couple!

We had an amazing time during our Labor Day weekend stay at Lovers Key Resort! The unit we stayed in was absolutely beautiful! Just perfect un every way imaginable! It was meticulously clean, tastefully decorated, furnished with everything we could possibly have needed, and quite comfortable! And the view!! WOW!! We saw both sunrise AND sunset, beautiful birds, dolphins, and an ever changing picture of the sky and the bay from the floor to ceiling windows!! We didn’t want to leave… but we will be back!!

Our fIrst impression was WOW as we walked into condo unit 504 at Lover’s Key Resort overlooking Estero Bay through wrap-around floor to ceiling windows. The one bedroom unit was very clean, recently renovated, had a spacious bathroom with walk-in shower, good size kitchen, and featured a 70” HDTV. Lover’s Key Resort offers many great amenities too, including proximity to Lover’s Key State Park, location next door to Flippers Seafood Grill, workout facility, pool & hot tub, easy check-in and check-out. What we appreciated most were views of the bay, dolphins, and Osprey watching. We will definitely consider Lover’s Key Resort when visiting Fort Myers Beach in the future.

We loved this place so much. It’s extremely comfortable, perfectly located right next to the state park beach, and has amazing views. We saw some dolphins a few times from the living room window! The pool is also awesome and well kept by the resort. This is easily one of the best places we have ever stayed. There’s no doubt in my mind this will be our place in the future for all Florida trips!

We stayed here for almost a week while here for business. Overall solid stay. Things we loved: Good AC Centrally located to lots of things Fully setup kitchen Beautifully decorated condo inside Things we didn't love: We had to check in around midnight. We notified the host, but when we arrived no one was there, and the front doors to the facility were locked. Called host and no one answered. Had to hop a fence, stairs to second floor, and go through that way. The building had two elevators, one of which was out of order the entire stay. So we had to take 5 flights of stairs most days because the elevator would be packed when it would show up after 5-10 minutes of waiting (corona). Lastly, the building was pretty run down. Minimal maintenance / cleaning. Did not match the high quality of the condo itself. If you want a beautiful condo centrally located...this is great as long as you don't mind some of the other things.

Check-in instructions, including the fact that this unit is a self check-in, as well as the door code for your late arrival are sent out 48 hours prior to your arrival. We are extremely disappointed to hear that Airbnb did not provide them to you through their booking platform messaging system. They do not provide us with direct guest contact so we are dependent on their system to deliver - which they obviously did not. We have no phone messages or emails from the night you checked letting us know you were having a problem. We host hundreds of guests a year at this property and have never had such an issue. This particular unit you stayed in, as well as Lovers Key Resort in general, receives raving reviews from our guests - I'm sorry it fell short in your opinion. We ask guests to let us know there is an issue while they are still here, we wish we had known this during your stay rather than waiting for the review process to inform us. This home is exactly as described! GREAT location with a private hot tub and pool, close to shops and restaurants! We loved fishing off of the dock during the day and enjoying the peaceful canal in the evening. The home itself was cozy and clean. The lanai is the perfect spot for your morning coffee. Everything about this place was amazing! We loved the view and saw dolphins swim by almost everyday. The space was tastefully decorated and so clean! The kitchen was surprisingly well stocked and had everything you could think of. The building itself was well maintained and very clean. We often were the only ones using the pool. We went everyday to Lovers Key State Park- we drove since we had so many beach supplies (the condo supplies chairs and umbrella). But it was a short, easy ride and walkable for those with less to carry. The pandemic made it so that our original vacation was canceled but this place may become an annual favorite for us. So worth the money!

This place was so beautiful. We literally got too see the dolphins playing daily. The view is absolutely amazing and the room was so nice. I would definitely recommend you get this place on a vacation. The pool and spa are so nice and there is a laundry facility and gym also. What a amazing vacation spot.

The pictures did not do it justice. The view was exhilarating. We never wanted to leave. In the intercoastal we saw dolphins. Manatee. Stingrays. Of all kinds just feeding. Schools of fish close to the surface. We got to see a bolide during the night. An extremely bright meteor. Not a twinkling wish star but a flaming green ball with a long streak. The sky lit up like 10 moon lights. Recommend the state park. They have kayak rentals. Paddleboards. Hiking biking. We went parasailing in bonita. 100 percent will be back again. Try out Fresh catch Bistro. Place was extremely clean. Plenty of towels. Sunsets and sunrises are to die for

This condo has a great location- it is located in a small complex of three buildings, and the condo area has a workout center and a heated pool and hot tub. It is located directly across from Lover's Key State Park, which is a beautiful state park with a lovely beach (just as good as Sanibel Island without the expensive parking) and kayak and bike rentals. The condo itself is a great size for 2 or 3 and was clean and well maintained. The view out the windows is amazing- the bay is full of wildlife, we saw dolphins and manatees daily, as well as boats going to and from a restaurant next door. The restaurant itself is yummy, although a little pricey and the service is just okay. The amenities at the condo were awesome- enough towels, soap, chairs, and a pop up tent to use. We also paid for a pack n play and high chair. I would definitely stay here again- the Lover's Key State Park area is an absolute OASIS compared to the touristy, packed, traffic filled Fort Myer's Beach area

Where to start? This unit is AMAZING! It is the perfect size for a couple wanting a relaxing getaway. The interior has been beautifully updated. We didn't want to leave! The resort is fantastic too, very quiet. Flippers is a local restaurant that is on the property. That might be one of the best parts of staying here! We ate breakfast here a few mornings before hitting the beach. The omelettes are great! On our last morning, we were eating breakfast and saw a mom and baby dolphin swimming right by the shore - it was magical. My husband and I decided that Lovers Key Beach is our new favorite. The privacy is unreal. We loved the rugged, natural feel of the beach. Bonita Springs restaurants are about 10 mins away. You really can't beat the location of this property. We cannot wait to be back!

The Condo was exactly as presented. Check in was smooth and parking not a problem. Very good restaurant next door. Our view from the 5th floor was fabulous and there was always action with wildlife. Pelicans, dolphins, hawks, etc. Clean and up to date. Walk on the beach is just across the road and easy walk.

Reserving was smooth. The Condo was very nicely decorated and very nicely supplied with the necessities. Location is outstanding as wild life is abundant with pelicans, dolphins, and abundance of other birds. Flippers restaurant very conveniently located next door. The pictures in the app are exactly as shown, the condo has been renewed and everything has a wonderful clean, contemporary beach vibe. You can see the water from any where in the condo including the shower! I would have been happy simply sitting on the sofa watching the boats and fishermen and Dolphins enjoy the sea. I come to Ft Myers about every other month to enjoy the medicine of the water and the wonderful weather. The condo is everything I would want and is now first in line when looking for accommodations' Pool is wonderful, and it is perfectly quiet and restful, However just a quick trip to restaurants, Naples shopping, groceries and sightseeing. , Thank You for sharing this incredible property..

I cannot say enough good things about our stay at Lovers Key. The condo is absolutely breathtaking, inside and out. Not only is the view stunning, but the décor is as well. The condo is very spacious, clean, and looks as though the space has been professionally decorated. We also appreciated having the full kitchen during our stay so that we could make lunch or breakfast before heading to the beach. The best part of the trip was enjoying the serenity while having our first cup of coffee on the balcony at sunrise. The water was so clear we even see dolphins! We can’t wait to go back.

This is the absolute best little getaway! The condo is spacious, clean and beautifully decorated. Having the full kitchen is definitely a plus and the hotel pool and amenities are great! There are the amenities of a home with a resort feel. The best part that we fell in love with is the gorgeous view. Everywhere you look in the condo you have a breathtaking view of the bay. We could not be happier with this place. We loved every minute of our stay and can’t wait to come visit again!!
