This Annapolis home, located directly across the street from Naval Academy's Gate 1, is also a moving tribute to the owner's heroic brother, 1st Lt Travis Manion. An experienced war veteran, Manion was fatally wounded by an enemy sniper while aiding and drawing fire away from his wounded 1st Recon Battalion teammates on April 29, 2007 in Iraq. His courageous acts allowed every member of his patrol to survive. For his actions, Travis was awarded the Silver Star and Bronze Star with Valor.

His family has brought his legacy to life outside the gates of his Alma Mater, the Naval Academy, where he graduated in 2004. Guests will enjoy the cozy layout and decor of the home while feeling the honor of this fallen hero all around them.

The main floor open layout is great for family gatherings and watching the games. The recently-renovated kitchen has new stainless appliances, including a wine fridge, a breakfast nook for 5 and additional seating for 5 at the bar. Adjacent to the kitchen is a laundry room with a half bathroom. The family room features comfortable seating, a decorative fireplace, and a large flat screen smart TV to enjoy football games. Head back out the door to the back patio with an outdoor fire table and seating for 6-8. From the 1st floor, head upstairs to the 2nd floor with the Master bedroom with the King bed and full en-suite bath with a stand-up shower. Down the hall is another guest room with 2 twin beds and a full bath in the hall (shower tub combination). Head up to the 3rd floor to the fun kids' space. There are 2 more Twin beds, a TV with lounge chairs and a 3rd full bath.

House Rules

Reservations made for teenagers or young single groups will not be honored without any accompanying adult staying in the unit at ALL times. We require at least one member of the party to be 25 (twenty-five) years of age. No smoking/no pets. Please respect the neighbors and neighborhood. No parties.

AGREEMENT

Tenant is at least 25 years old (an "adult") and will be an occupant of the unit Marine's Gate. Should any unauthorized persons occupy or use the Premises, Tenant shall vacate the premises immediately without any refund.
 

BALANCE

Balance is due 30 days prior to arrival date and includes a refundable damage deposit. The balance is due on _BalanceDueDate_. Payment may be made by major credit card. Damage deposit will be refunded within 7 -10 days of checkout pending inspection by cleaning firm.
 

HAZARDOUS PRACTICES

No BBQ grills of any kind are permitted in the unit. No open flames permitted in the unit.
 

ABSOLUTELY NO PETS

If evidence of a pet(s) is found in the unit or on the premises you will be asked to vacate immediately with no refund of rent or damage deposit.
 

FALSIFIED RESERVATION

Any reservation obtained under false pretense will be subject to forfeiture of reservation deposit, damage deposit, and/or balance of rental payment.
 

HOUSEKEEPING

There is no daily maid service. Linens and towels are included and not to be taken from the unit. There is a $_CleaningFee_ one time cleaning fee.

UTILITIES

No compensation will be given for temporary outage of electricity, gas, water or cable. 

NONSMOKING UNIT

Your damage deposit will be forfeited and you will incur an additional charge for cleaning and deodorizing if any evidence of smoking is found.
 

ENTRY BY OWNER

Owner or owner's agents may enter the premises: in case of an emergency; to make any necessary or agreed upon repairs, alterations, or improvements; supply necessary or agreed upon services or show the premises to prospective purchasers, renters or contractors.  24 hours notice of Owners intent to enter will be given (except in the case of an emergency).
 

RULES AND REGULATIONS

  1. Tenant agrees to leave the premises and its contents in the same condition, neat and tidy, as Tenant found the premises to be upon move-in, normal wear and tear expected. Please leave all used towels on the floors of the bathrooms and beds linens should all be left on each bed for housekeeping.
  2. All dishes are to be washed and all garbage removed from the premises and placed in outside receptacles. If these items are not completed, the guest will be charged an additional cleaning fee. 
  3. The maximum number of occupants shall not exceed 6 people, not including a child in a crib.
  4. Furnishings are not to be removed from the premises for use outside or in other properties.
  5. No pets allowed on premises.
  6. No Smoking.
  7. Reservations are not made by or for a minor, defined as any person under the age of 25.
  8. Tenant and any guest of Tenant shall obey all laws of the state of Maryland, as well as local laws, at all times while they are on the premises. Failure to abide by the laws of Maryland or the above rules may cause tenant to be asked to vacate the premises and forfeit all rents and security/damage deposits.
  9. All noise must be brought inside by 10pm. Failure to do so could result in a $500 fine.

SLEEPING CAPACITY/DISTURBANCES

Tenant and all other occupants will be required to vacate the premises and forfeit the rental fee and security deposit for: Occupancy exceeding the sleeping capacity of 6 people, using the premises for illegal activity, causing damage to the premises rented or to any of the neighboring properties and any other acts which interferes with neighbors' right to quiet enjoyment of their premises.
 

HOLD HARMLESS

iTrip or the Owner, does not assume any liability for loss, damage or injury to persons or their personal property. Neither does owner accept any liability for any inconveniences, damage, loss or injury arising from any temporary defects or stoppage in supply of water, gas, cable service, electricity or plumbing, as well as due to weather conditions, natural disasters, acts of God, or other reasons beyond its control.
 

MAINTENANCE

Please report any maintenance needs for the premises to the us and we will respond as quickly as possible. Refunds will not be made for maintenance issues including, but not limited to heating and air conditioning, appliances, televisions, and stereos.

Holiday Weekend with friends

Marine's Gate was the perfect destination for three couples during a December weekend in Annapolis (Boat parade and Holiday Market on Dock Street). What a wonderful tribute to 1LT Manion, with books, pictures and uniforms honoring the fallen Marine. The home is just across the street from Gate 1 and minutes from DTA pubs and shops. Communications before arrival was prompt and easy, as was check-in. The home itself conveyed a homey, comfortable environment, and we enjoyed watching the Army-Navy game on the two TVs downstairs. There was plenty of room to spread out and enjoy being in a home away from home. Kitchen had an extensive array of platters, wine glasses, spices, etc. Three bedrooms and baths upstairs were wonderful. Highly recommend!!

The house and location were perfect. The host had a bottle of wine and snack waiting for us which was a nice surprise. The place had plenty of space and everything you needed. It was great having a big living room we could all hang out in. The kitchen and bathroom had all of the necessities. The location was great and easy to walk to anything downtown. The parking situation wasn’t ideal and we wish the details were outlined up front before booking. The closest garage is 0.2 miles which was longer than described when asked. The information about a nightly cost of $23 per night should be disclosed. Otherwise the place is wonderful and we enjoyed learned about the history of the family and the legacy.

Excellent home!! It was extremely clean and tidy. The fireplace was awesome after walking around town in the cold. Plenty of room to relax and kitchen was great. Beds comfy. Parking was 0.5 miles from home - Calvert St garage - free on weekends (From 6p Friday until 6 am Monday). Location was perfect for visiting the yard and getting a coffee at Brown Mustache...my favorite!!! We are a military family...dedicating the home to a soldier who gave HIS all to our country - what a tribute and a way to share with others the meaning of this mans' life and death. Really would love to stay again.
