Balboa Island is a gem whether you drive, walk, bike or take the Balboa Island Ferry to the island. Balboa Island’s Marine Avenue is home to chic coastal shops featuring unique nautical designs, stylish beach fashions, art and jewelry. It’s also home to quaint restaurants and bistros serving up a variety of dishes bursting with flavor. The selections on Balboa Island go beyond the local fresh seafood of the day with flavors of Italian, Mexican, and French-Swiss mixed in to the culinary choices.

There may be nothing more iconic than the island’s two famous desserts, the Balboa Bar and Frozen Banana. The local sweet tooth treasures have been mainstays for nearly 75 years, and have been imitated and replicated, including on the hit TV show “Arrested Development.” The tasty treats are dipped in chocolate and covered with a variety of coatings from nuts and sprinkles to cookie crumbs.

If you want to visit the DISNEYLAND, our property is located just under 20 miles to the resort and it's two main parks. After a great day at the parks, you can return back to your villa, refresh, relax, and take a stroll down to the beach.

If you are interested in the Laguna Beach PAGEANT OF MASTERS during July, this is a fantastic place to stay. Lyft or Uber is the easiest way to get to the event. You can enjoy a nice glass of wine on the balcony before your ride picks you up and takes you to Laguna Beach.

Additional local attractions include Disneyland, Knott’s Berry Farm, Whale Watching (included in the FREE FUN package), Aquarium of the Pacific, South Coast Plaza, and Fashion Island.

But a trip to Balboa Island wouldn’t be complete without a visit to the Balboa Fun Zone or the Peninsula, where the Ferris wheel has stood for more than 80 years, and the world famous Balboa Island Ferry. The Ferry is about 10 minute walk from the cottage.

This cottage can also be rented in conjunction with the front unit for larger families.

Our stay at your place on Park Ave. was a great one. The house was very clean and it had everything we needed. My dog Bo also appreciated the room in the backyard so he can run around which is uncommon on Balboa Island. Thanks again.

My sweet parents bless us with a week's stay at Balboa each summer, and we always look forward to our family's annual tradition. We've stayed at a variety of beautiful homes on Balboa over the years, but we've never vacationed at a home as wonderful as 1106 Park Avenue!! I almost don't want to share all the fabulous details, for fear of it being booked non-stop, without a way to reserve it for ourselves -- but, I'll put my selfishness aside, and I'll share anyway. ;) ____The house is perfectly situated on the island, as it's one block from Marine Avenue (where all the restaurants and shops are located), and it's also one block from the bay. We loved being able to park inside the gate on the property -- it completely takes the stress away, as we usually have to fight for a parking spot on the street, and we also have to keep moving the car throughout the week due to the street sweepers. Not with this home! Your car is safely tucked away within the gate, and it makes loading and unloading things so easy, too. The courtyard in front of the home is just darling. It's all so well-maintained, and we loved the beautiful landscaping, the various tables and chairs, and the large BBQ. You can't beat the darling Dutch door as you enter the house via keypad!! The ventilation throughout the home is quite remarkable, as all the windows open easily and completely. The layout of the home is fantastic, and the living room couches are extremely comfortable. We appreciate how light and bright all the rooms are, and can I just mention the awesome sea breeze throughout the house again?? Who wouldn't want to cook in the kitchen with the windows open?? Speaking of the kitchen, I've never seen such a well-stocked kitchen before. I usually bring my own pots, pans, and knives with me to rentals, just in case, but I honestly didn't need them here! It is outfitted with all the kitchenware and appliances we could ever dream of having. There is plenty of counter space, too, and it's lovely to have the washer and dryer right there in the house. There's a large closet downstairs, as well as closets in both bedrooms, and there's a separate closet area upstairs in the hallway. The bathroom has ample room, and the shower is very spacious with good water flow. Our kiddos loved their quaint bedroom, especially once they found the wooden ladder under the bunk bed. ;) ____My parents came to visit one day during our vacation, and they both agreed that this was the best Balboa rental yet. In fact, they loved it so much, that now my dad is seriously considering a full-time move to the island!! He really loved the privacy of the fenced-in courtyard, and he appreciated the beautiful architecture of the home. You should have heard us all ooh-ing and ahh-ing over the house the entire time we were there! ____Scott is absolutely fantastic from the start -- he responds quickly and thoroughly, and he really works hard to make sure your stay is the best it can be! I really appreciate his generosity and all the sweet little touches he provides for his guests -- from the handwritten welcome/thank you note, to the cookies wine, to the complimentary adventures and activities he provides with your stay (the whale watching is so amazing!!). Well done, Scott, and thank you very much for giving our family our best Balboa Island experience yet!! We so appreciate your providing us with our dream vacation, and we cannot wait to come back!

This is the cutest, most adorable well equipped beach cottage I have ever rented. From the hand made Waverly curtains and matching lamps and couches to every imaginable amenity in the kitchen, bathroom and patio we never wanted to leave. They have thought of everything and we were so cozy we felt like two bugs in a rug. Two blocks from all the restaurants and shopping you could want as well as a 5 minute walk to the ferry to the other island with amusements, stores, eateries and the ocean and the pier. Morning or evening exercise with a walk around the 2.7 mile island and a view of the yachts and mansions. I cannot recommend this unit enough. We were i heaven.

We really enjoyed staying in this charming beach cottage that was so close to everything for walking even though one of us has trouble with walking. Plenty of benches everywhere doing walks around on the beach walkways for sitting it is definitely a block to the beach but it’s a small beach there you have to ride across on the ferry to get to the larger beach. Main Street is only a block away with the grocery store right at the corner. So convenient. Luckily our parking was inside our own gate so we never had to park on the street because there’s literally very very little parking at any time on a street unless you go round around the block. Inside we had everything we needed for 2 people. Also several fans for inside evening comfort when there was no ocean breeze.

My wife and I actually lived on Balboa Island years ago. This return to the island was a little homecoming vacation for us, and the cottage was absolutely perfect for experiencing the special charm and character of the area. 'Brought back such great memories! I had the chance to meet Scott (who manages the property), and he could not have been nicer or more accommodating. Highly recommended!!

Love staying at this island cottage getaway! I would without hesitation recommend it to anyone interested in staying on Balboa Island. The cottage has a real beach feel and is clean, beautifully decorated, and stocked with everything you could possibly need making the stay all the more enjoyable. It is ideally located on a corner lot close to the water, shopping, restaurants, and the ferry to Balboa Peninsula. I could park my car in the provided parking spot and walk to everything needed. The beds are comfortable and have the softest sheets on them you can imagine. Shower has great water pressure. There is a large patio space with a bbq as well as 2 outdoor tables for dining al fresco. Can't wait for my next stay at this cottage.

We had never been to Balboa Island before and it was a delightful experience. Scott's place is super cute and has a real beauty vibe. If you're new to Air B and B and are feeling unsure, let me assure you: my husband is very picky and he loved it. The pictures are an accurate representation. It is clean and comfortable, has a well equipped kitchen and plenty of hot water for showers. The bed was very comfortable. Even my husband agrees! Scott was quick to respond, but there were absolutely no problems that needed responding to--we just sent a message saying we arrived and were very happy with the house. We took advantage of the off street parking which was perfect for our car--a Jeep Patriot. There is a nice private patio area with lots of seating. The location is a five minute walk to the shops and a few minutes to the walk along the water. We actually got more than we hoped for! Thanks again to Scott!

Absolutely loved this house! Balboa Island is a wonderful place on its own, but staying at Scott's place made it even better! This little cottage is older, but has so much character! The location was just perfect for walking, scootering or biking to the shops, Bay Front, Ferry and the Balboa Pier. The size was great for 2 adults and 3 kids (9-12 y.o.); everyone could definitely spread out and relax! The large patio space was very helpful for all the bikes, scooters and lots of sand removal. What can be said about the price... it can't be beat! Scott is a great Host - fantastic communication throughout our stay! Check in and out was really simple too. We will rent this house again, for sure!

Stayed here July 2019. Beautiful house in beautiful area. The pictures really do not do it justice. Amazing amount of space for us a family with two teenagers but the house could quite comfortably take another 2 people at least. Fabulous WiFi which of course you need for the kids. The TV has many many channels (sad I know, but being a Brit away from Wimbledon, I was jumping hoops when I found The Wimbledon men’s singles final!) Having been on the road through America for over a week I was glad to see a washing machine and drier. Super fast wash and dry and if you need to hang stuff out to dry (another British trait) the trees in the back garden are excellent hangers!!!! Super comfy beds, all of us slept like babies. Amazing shower. The house doesn’t have air con and when we arrived it was quite hot, however, after flinging all the windows open we had instant coolness. Also in fairness, we asked for fans and Scott delivered almost immediately. The back garden doubles up as parking area and is very private and secure. Plenty of room. We cooked and ate outside most nights. All in all a fabulous, centrally located home which is 5 minute walk to both the Main Street and in other direction 5 mins to the foot ferry which goes across to Balboa Village. We are a family who every year be it on the Mediterranean or here in the USA always rent homes for our holidays and I can safely say this house is in my top 3 in the world. Many thanks Lynn and Scott

Location, privacy, and price make this an ideal vacation spot. Our first visit was at Christmas, so we were able to view all the decorations and lights as we walked each night and then on a boat ride of the area. This time were were lucky enough to be there when The Balboas Island yearly Parade was held. What fun we had watching the residents put on a great show with dancing in the street to a great local band. My family and I spent an entire week at Lynn's house. Check in and check out was very easy and convenient. Her place is situated in an ideal location - 2 minute walk to the piers, less than 5 minute walk to all the shops on Marine Avenue, 10 minute walk to the ferry that takes you over to Newport Beach. Private parking spot, which is key on Balboa Islands. Multiple beds makes this house ideal for couples traveling with children. We cooked during our stay and the kitchen was stocked with all the cookware, dinnerware, and utensils you could possibly need. Hair dryer and extra beach towels in the closet. Lynn was even kind enough to let us borrow her sea kayaks. Would stay here again on a return trip to Balboa.
