Private and Picturesque Retreat on the River Just 20 Minutes to Seaside Near Hiking and Waterfalls

Elderberry Eden
$105 - $264 / night   in Seaside
3 Bedrooms 1.5 Bathrooms Sleeps 8

Water lover's paradise on the banks of the Nehalem river with another babbling brook right outside your window. Enjoy complete privacy on the riverside with decks and patios to enjoy the setting. We are just far enough from highway 26 to be quiet, but close enough so you can get to the coast in 20 minutes. Plenty of hiking trails with waterfalls in the area.

*The space*

This property is a wonderful blend, of location and comfort with a rustic vibe. Enjoy room to roam on the main level with a large master bedroom (king), large bath and shower, complete kitchen, family room with fireplace and all the outdoor areas. If you have more than two people the bottom floor is accessible as well with two more bedrooms to choose from and an additional family room. There is also a half bath downstairs.

*Guest access*

This is a great property for privacy. From the riverside you neither hear nor see any neighbors. You can roam about the property all you like enjoying the year-round creek and the riverfront patio with stairs right down to the river for swimming or launching a kayak. Great spot for fishing.

*Interaction with guests*

Occasionally the owner is in the cottage down the path. They will always respect privacy and not interact unless prompted by a guest.

*Other things to note*

Obviously with rural settings internet can be a challenge, but we do have a wireless setup that uses cricket cellular and works pretty well. Cellular phone service is pretty decent for Cricket, AT&T and Verizon. Sprint and T-Mobile do not work well here.

There is a general store just a mile from here that manages to stock a little of everything and has better cell reception. They also have a gas station, restaurant, lounge and inn. The Elderberry Inn is great if you have additional guests. Camp 18 is another good option for food just 4 miles west.

Getting down to the river is a matter of walking down about 25 steps that feature a good sturdy handrail. There is a railing down there with another gate to access the river. Other areas of the property are fairly wild and can present risks for unattended children. There are some steep drop offs that are sometimes hidden by the brush, so please keep this in mind when exploring.

Our family thoroughly enjoyed staying at this beautiful spot on our recent vacation to the Oregon Coast. It is aptly named because it was the perfect, peaceful home base welcoming us back each day after our explorations of nearby beaches and towns. The home was very charming and comfortable, and provided everything we needed. We loved the setting along the river and fell asleep soothed by the babbling brook which ran next to the house.

Unfortunately we did not enjoy our stay at Elderberry Eden. The house was filthy. It was obvious that it only gets surface cleaned. There were exposed mice traps, garbage in the couch cushions, dirty bedding, dead bugs under chairs and tables, gross carpet and a dirty mop bucket filled with dirty water at the front door. There was no Air conditioning in the house. The house was about 80 degrees our entire stay. It was hot and humid. We didn't have an option to open windows because there were no window screens! The master bedroom was the only room with screens on the windows. If windows got opened out of pure desperation, the house would fill up with flies and other bugs. The shower and bathtub were nice. The patios were nice but difficult and somewhat unsafe to get too because of all the overgrown greenery. This house was not at all what we were expecting. It is definitely not worth the money. I believe we should receive a full refund! Had we brought children with us, we would not have been able to stay because of the filth and dangerous patios. I would not recommend this property to anyone.

The setting was a beautiful place. The accomidations were not good. The house had a terrible odor. The walls downstairs were molding. They had a terrible mice problem. Would not reccomend. Very poor conditions.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We certainly wish there were more options for higher end internet. We do only advertise the one TV. I hope you can join us again sometime in the future!

Loved the house and surrounding area! The house had everything we needed and was a great location to split time between beaches and Portland!

We absolutely loved Elderberry Eden! We were there 4/4-4/7 with our good friends. My boys loved exploring this quirky and fun property, with its beautiful waterfall and perfect spots for fishing. I loved the layout, because our two families were able to have our own space to spread out. The kitchen was big and well-equipped. We are hoping to come back in the summer sometime, to further enjoy the outdoor areas. Thanks for sharing this awesome slice of heaven!

We absolutely love this home and the gorgeous grounds. The home is wonderfully inviting and eclecticly furnished in beautiful unusual antiques. The full kitchen is a joyful place to prepare and enjoy a meal and the living room is so comfortablesuch a great place to enjoy a cozy fire or watch one of the many movies on the huge tv. The couch is so comfy that you could just sleep there but it would be a shame to miss out on the wonderful mattresses and soft linens on the beds. The sound of the river lulls you to sleep and the views are spectacular! It feels so private and peaceful, especially sitting down by the river, listening to the birds and watching the fish jumping. This is our third time to stay here and we will definitely be back!!!
