The Savannah Rose Cottage is in an excellent location-a short walk to Troup Square, the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist and historic Jones Street, voted one of the prettiest streets in the United States. A short drive or 15-minute walk puts you on either Broughton Street or River Street where shopping and dining abound-it truly is the ideal location from which to explore Savannah.

Of historical note: Known as "Beach cottages", these quaint homes are named for their location near the "Beach Institute." The Beach Institute was a school built in 1867 by the Freedmen’s Bureau of the American Missionary Association for the education of newly freed slaves. It was named for Alfred S. Beach, editor of the Scientific American from New York who donated generously to enable the institute’s success. The Beach Institute closed in 1919 and now houses African-American Cultural Museum and remains a prominent tourist landmark of downtown Savannah. Look closely and you will spot the original brick flue in the front of the institute which channeled over 100 years of coal smoke from the little cottage's claw-foot stove out over the depot. Today, a reproduction electric stove recreates the appearance of the original.

Beach cottages were built in the mid 19th century to house the working class railroad laborers and craftsman that created the revered structures of historic Savannah and who also ushered in the greater population growth of the 20th Century. Across the street from this cottage we now have East Broad Elementary School, which was once a bustling railroad depot and main artery of the city's vibrant commerce

The house is absolutely awesome. In every room there are beautiful pictures, my favorite ones are in the bathroom. You'll find everything what you need in that house: a cozy bed, a fully equipped kitchen, a washing machine and dryer (what was absolutely great for us cause when we arrived we were already 2 weeks on a trip and our clothes needed to be washed!), the living room is small but cute and to be honest who needs a huge living room on vacations? Especially when you are in a town like savannah. I would book that house again for my next stay in savannah, it was clean and I truly loved the lil cozy adorable house :-) Sidenote: great wifi and Amazon is also available

Place was newly renovated and very clean. As our week continued, we discovered that what we thought was mosquito bites from sitting out on the side patio was actually bites from bed bugs. Both of us only had them from the knees down to the ankles. We pulled the sheets down on our last morning and discovered them. Contacted the owners immediately. In a few days they contacted us and stated that their exterminator found no evidence of them. We KNOW what mosquito bugs look like. We will never stay at 549 E. Harris St. again.

The rental was perfect. The area was a quiet residential area but very close to the historic district. All amenities were available and we found that we did not need to get anything that was omitted.

We have stayed at many vrbos since 2015 and this is one of the best! Great location. Quiet street with private parking which is a plus here. Walking distance to squares, restaurants, historical districts, river walk. The place itself is immaculate! The best and I mean the best towels, sheets, pillows, king size bed. Equiped kitchen and a table/dining ares for adventure planning. A couch and chair to relax at the end of the day. It is in one of the historic district so it is an old house with great character such as crown molding and wood floors. Owner is very personable, making sure we had what we needed. Perfect visit to Savannah!

This was a wonderful quiet private place to stay. It was very clean and the bed was most comfortable. The location was perfect, blocks from the free transportion and yet in a quiet neighborhood, close to the Fox and Fig restaurant and a Kroger’s grocery store. I would definitely recommend this place.

We had a great stay on E Harris St. We arrived and parked (for free!) on the street right in front of the home and never had to touch the car again our entire stay. We loved the thoughtful welcome gift from the hosts (yum!). The photos and description of the home in the listing were spot on in accurately portraying this lovely home. The house is in a great location — it is very easy to get to all the great restaurants, shops, riverside park, historic churches and homes. We ate wonderful food and throughly enjoyed walking home through the squares every night. In the morning we chatted to the friendly neighbors and spent time relaxing on the patio listening to the birds. The flowers were just coming into bloom and all in all it was a fantastic visit. Would definitely stay here again. Can’t recommend this home enough if you need a few days in Savannah to rest and recharge your batteries. The hosts are responsive and thoughtfully provided everything we needed. They even sent us an early check in text the day of arrival, which was greatly appreciated!

I was pleasantly surprised at the size of the cottage inside. Comfortable and supplied with all the essentials, from the kitchen to the bathroom, to make your stay hassle free. If you want to cook, the kitchen has everything you need, except your food. Kroger nearby and Uber can get you downtown for very little $. Highly recommend for single or a couples getaway. Probably ok for a couple of children as well with the couch as a backup. I would definitely stay again!

This cottage is located in a very quiet residential part of downtown , on the eastern edge of the historic district, yet everything the historic district offers is only a short walk away. The cottage itself is very comfortably appointed and it was quite easy for us to quickly feel 'at home.' On-street parking is no problem (although there is street sweeping twice a week so be mindful of the signs --even with that, we had no issues at all finding parking). The kitchen is a modern, large galley-style design with washer-dryer hidden behind closet doors, and the bedroom with walk-in closet also opens onto a very private side yard which is perfect for fresh-air breakfasts. Bathroom was more than adequate and the tub/shower had good water pressure and abundant hot water. More than once throughout our stay, we noted that 'we could easily live here.' We walked everywhere, day and night, without fear and feeling comfortable. This cottage is a keeper. If we had to fault it with anything at all, it was with the Amazon FireStick on the TV's not properly functioning. Otherwise, we highly recommend this cottage as a great place to stay in Savannah (just don't book it when we want to return).

Very clean! Perfect size for two with an extremely well equipped kitchen. The location was so quiet and perfect for walking to just about anywhere. We loved that we could park our car for free and did not have to use it again until we left. We felt like we were experiencing a little piece of the citys history by staying in this cottage and really enjoyed the fact that it wasnt amidst the noise and congestion of the more touristy areas.
