The Island Inn was founded in 1885 and has been a part of Sanibel history. From the history of the Island Inn:

"Island Inn was established in 1885. It began as the home of Will and Harriet Matthews and their four children who traded in the harsher climate of the north for the more temperate, year round weather of Sanibel Island. Constantly entertaining friends and relatives from the north who flocked to visit, the Matthews decided to turn their home into a boarding house. And from this grew the gracious tradition of the historic Island Inn that now hosts families and friends from around the world".

You will enjoy resort amenities including gulf front pool, tennis, kayaking, shuffleboard, volleyball and great shelling on the beach just steps away.

One of Sanibel's best restaurants offering dining and entertainment, Traditions is on the property, also just steps away!

We invite you to stay in our lovely home.

Great place for the price ! Just steps from the beach and the bike path. Everything we needed. I would only mention that this is not the place to stay if you have even slight mobility or balance issues. Getting in and out of the shower/tub was a challenge. We also could have used a heat source since it was unusually cold during are stay in January.

My wife and I stayed in this unit the last week of August and it was great. The unit was well appointed and very clean, the zoned HVAC was very helpful in keeping the unit comfortable in the heat of summer, especially at night. The Island Inn property is in a very convenient location on Sanibel, Island Inn road can be used to shortcut over to Bailey's, Doc Ford's, etc. when on bikes. On our second to last day the dishwasher developed a small leak and the the property manager was at the unit nearly immediately after I contacted him, great service. We also liked using the keycode door locks rather than needing to pick up and drop off keys upon arrival and departure, nice touch.

We enjoyed our stay at Kimball Lodge. The condo is lovely and adequately equipped for vacationers. The property was clean and pleasantly decorated. ( Only one concern- the coffee maker doesn't automatically shut off and doesn't have a working light indicating that it's still on.) The beach is wonderful and we enjoyed our meal at Traditions. We'd come again.

We couldn't have picked a better place to have our honeymoon! The condo was perfect for just the two of us and we loved the location. The walk to the beach was better and shorter than I thought it would be. The room is well decorated and put together. Loved Traditions, so easy to walk to and the food was wonderful! The only complaint we had was that when we first got there, there was a funky smell. Maybe the self-cleaner on the oven, we couldn't pinpoint exactly what it smelt like. But we just opened the windows and turned the fans on and that helped!

The location is great, right on the beach. The place was clean and very nice. The tub/shower is a liitle cumbersome to get in and out but thats it. We had no problems at all and will consider it again in the future.

We enjoyed our stay in Sanibel and the condo but i have some concerns. First, the door to the condo opens outwards vs. inwards and had no security measures other than the fact it was a coded entry. All the other doors in the building that had keys, opened inward which leads me to believe that this space was not a room at some time. My suggestion is to add some kind of security from the inside so vacationers can feel safer. Also, a safe would have been nice to keep your personal items in which i find in many hotels these days which provides added security. The condo was a described, nice and clean looking. We were close to the beach which we loved. I did see some very small bugs and am not sure what they were, may have been sand fleas, but saw them a couple of times and that was concerning. There was no balcony which was our fault for not realizing that there was none. The owner was responsive and the room ready earlier than expected which was nice.

We stayed for a week at the Island Inn and Kimball lodge unit 264 and enjoyed the room very much! The week was incredible and amazingly fun. Even though we spent the majority of our time out of the condo biking, or at the beach, the time we did spend indoors resting from the sun were well spent. The apartment is the right size for two people and has a nice view from the large windows of the beach and complex from the kitchen and table. The unit has a great A/C system and two high powered fans to keep the place cool. The unit is stocked with plenty of towels and the essentials such as laundry and dish washing detergent, glasses, silverware, small dishes, and other neccessities to help throughout the week. One of the best features of the unit is the enormous bathroom with dual sinks, a bath tub with jacuzzi jets, full tile exterior, and rain water shower head. The unit also has its own laundry machine and dryer, which was a nice bonus. Most of the week we cooked for our meals at the unit and we recommend you bring pots, pans, cooking utensils, etc. that are outside of the basics if you intend to cook meals. The complex is very nice, well kept with many ammenities and features its own restaurant, Traditions, next door. Several times walking the complex we saw turtles as well. Overall we highly recommend the Island Inn and staying at the Kimball Lodge.

I just returned from a 4 day get away in Sanibel! Booking this trip was a breeze, the set up through iTrip seemless and all around extremely easy- everything a vacation should be! (Thank you John!). The condo was beautiful, nicely appointed, super convenient location to the beach, and everything you need ( love the keyless lock-love it!). Will be back!

condo was very nice, decorated just adorable ! had everything you needed including your own washer and dryer. great beach and large sun deck......very quiet and relaxing. Love that you put in a code on your door to lock and unlock it and don't have to keep track of keys. Only one suggestion, carpets look dirty ( I think they are clean just stained) new flooring would put it over the top !

The Island Inn was quite expensive but very nice. Sanibel Island was very disappointing. Couldn't sit outside because no see'ums were thick. People searching for shells were out there in the pre-dawn hours with flashlights. Would not recommend.

Sanibel is beautiful! Kimball Lodge 264 has a nice location. But the mattress in the bedroom will cripple you! We mentioned it to the rental company and were met with "it has been noted and the owners are aware." We were then told that the owner's plan to replace it "in the future." Well, the mattress was only purchased in 2014 so I don't think the owners will be replacing it any time soon. So be warned! The wife actually slept on the sofa 2 nights as it was much more comfortable than the bed. The dining table only has 2 chairs. The chairs and table have obviously been "shabby chic'd" as has the table that is passing for a coffee table. The gate leg dining table is coming apart and the seats for the chairs were not fastened down after they were recovered so slide off easily. The "coffee table" is too tall to be used as a coffee table. The cooking utensils are of lower quality and very, very basic. Don't plan to do a lot of cooking while staying in the unit. The couch is super comfy but awkwardly located for any type of TV viewing. The jacuzzi tub/shower combo is awkward and a safety hazard. You must take 2 steps up to then step down into the tub. There are no hand holds and the step is narrow. We both assumed some awkward positions getting into and out of the tub. All said, we would stay at Kimball Lodge again if available but probably not in this specific unit.

We really enjoyed our stay and the condo was fabulous. Everything as advertised. Very clean and very cute in a very relaxing atmosphere. Some small things to mention that by no means would stop us from coming back. First, the condo does not have its own balcony. This is actually a blessing in disguise. There is a common balcony overlooking the ocean that we very much enjoyed and enjoyed talking with others out on it. Secondly, to take advantage of this great balcony and the view of the ocean, we decided to forego eating out and cook most of our meals in the condo and eat outside on the balcony. The downside of this is that the pots and pans in the condo are old and beaten up as are some of the utensils. Could use a refresh. (Of course if you eat at restaurants this is not an issue). Lastly, in the master bathroom there is a gorgeous jet tub/shower. A problem with this is that there are no hand holds to get into it or out of it. My wife (mid 40's) and I (early 50's) are in good shape but we still had to be extra cautious getting in and out so we did not slip and fall. I consider this a safety issue that should be addressed. Overall, these are small things and once again, did not take away from our enjoyment of the place and the setting. Would recommend it to anyone.

Our unit at Kimball Lodge was very nice. The pictures were a true representation. The property was very clean. The pool area was small but there was so much sandy area w trees for shade and ample chairs that it didn't matter. Steps to ocean. Would stay here again.
