Unassuming, Pet-Friendly Colorado River Retreat w/ Pool. Enjoy the Best Swimming & Fishing Around!

Colorado River Retreat
$195.32 - $451.25 / night   in Garfield
4 Bedrooms 2 Bathrooms Sleeps 11

Make this shabby-sheek, no-frills riverfront East Austin residence your next home away from home! Whether you’re planning a family reunion in the state capitol, or you and your friends are in town for a music festival, this four bedroom, two bathroom house can provide just what you need to relax during your stay!

Sitting RIGHT on the Colorado River, this lodging offers both a great proximity to the heart of the city (roughly 20 miles from downtown!) and a peaceful atmosphere to escape the bustle of the everyday grind. Some have even referred to this as the 'Redneck Riviera'. Specifically, guests are provided:

- Five beds dispersed throughout four bedrooms; up to 11 guests can be accommodated with ease.

- Private pool overlooking the Colorado River.

- Easy access to the river from a private dock (the area is known for excellent fishing, so don’t forget your poles!).

- Large patio that can be accessed from both the living room and the master bedroom; start each day with a view of the river and your morning coffee, end each night with a glass of wine and a canvas of stars.

- Over-sized dining room table ideal for family meals, and game nights!

- Plenty of parking (no HOA, so no parking restrictions/limitations).

- A dog friendly premises (don't be surprised if you are greeted by 'Izzy', the neighbors very friendly dog)!

It should be noted that, while this property is just a short drive to Central Austin, it truthfully IS in the country, so please be prepared for the scenic drive complete with livestock, manufactured homes and yes, some dirt roads. As with any house in the country, once you're at the home, we are sure that you are going to encounter your fair share of insects, silk-webs outside and yes, some spider webs (did you know that a spider can construct an elaborate web of silk is UNDER AN HOUR!?) - We mention this so you'll understand that country homes, spiders & webs go together like peanut butter & jelly! You are going to come across spider webs during your stay - it does not mean that the house has not been cleaned! The home offers the basic channels (translation: no cable). This is the perfect time for you to leave the electronics behind, UNPLUG, and truly enjoy the outdoors. The pool and river are calling your name!

Whether in town for a relaxing river retreat or one of Austin’s world famous festivals (or both!), this waterfront property can offer you, your guests, and your dogs a welcoming and memorable stay!

The pool and bbq area was full of leaves. We spent an hour just cleaning them up.

We traveled as a large group and this house was spacious and accommodated all of our needs. We arrived on a Friday evening and had problems with the pool pump, but someone returned my call and addressed the problem in less than an hour... On a weekend!

We had a great time!! There were a few 'bumps' but nothing that could make our stay a bad stay. It is an older type home and being in the country you do have a few bugs, but beats the city life for sure. Here are a few things we liked, issues and suggestions if you stay.1. bring bottled water - as we were driving down the road there were signs that said to boil your water - i am sure the water is fine most of the time but best to be prepared - never found out why2. hard to find at night - could use a sign that is more visible3. bring charcoal/lighter fluid - picture shows gas grill but that is not the case - we did not mind, we ran to the local Dollar General picked some up and cooked away4. pool is a little cloudy but that is because of all the trees/shade so we actually enjoyed that more - no sunburns for us5. bring some fans if you like to keep the house cool - we found out that the house is to stay at 74 or higher but with all the windows it makes it pretty warm - we just kept the blinds closed and used the box fan that was there 6. check your towels and wash rags when you arrive - most all towels/rags in the 1st bathroom area were still wet - not the managements fault - cleaning crew was in a hurry?7. there was breakfast items in the fridge for us - what a special treat - couldn't have asked for a nicer jesterWe had a GREAT adult get away with friends in a private setting!!

We decided to take a small Memorial Day weekend with our pup. This place was perfect! It was quiet, great pool, and pretty disconnected. The internet is spotty, as stated, but that was fine! We played board games while grilling up dinner and watched movies after. The pool was the perfect temperature and got great sun for working on our tan. We don't fish so can't speak to the fishing, but my husband did try and swim in the river but the current was too fast. Also, the dock is metal so be sure to keep your shoes on! We had to lay a towel down for him to get back out of the water because the metal was pretty unbearable. oops! :) There are several dvds and board games to enjoy or bring your own. The kitchen is great and didn't really feel like we were missing anything to make our meals. We ate our meals at the table so we had a great view of the river. We never interacted with Amy except to let her know we were leaving, but that was just fine because we had no issues with the home and weren't missing anything. It is very quiet and almost secluded (there are a couple of homes on the little road to the property but never saw anyone) and the closest grocery store was about 1/2 an hour away. Since it is out by the river there are bugs, spiders, and mosquitos, but just bring your bug spray and you'll be fine!
