Great property and location

"The property was just as described - spacious and steps away from the beach. We really enjoyed the rental and the location and would definitely stay here again. It was a great place for the family and our pets. The property was very clean and the pool was perfect."

Thank you for your kind words, but do come back to see what we will have in the way of improvements for 2014. We are so happy to provide a place for folks to bring their dogs.

Okay, but needs owners who care.

"We had 9 people in this house and it worked for what we needed. The house needs a lot of TLC though. When we arrived we could barely walk up the stairs without being scratched by the palm trees. They definitely needed to be trimmed back. The sliding door for the back deck will barely open, and you need a lot of force behind it.The pool was dirty, we had to clean it ourselves. The inside was relatively clean. The bathrooms were definitely outdated and just looked grimy. We did not want to shower in anything but the master shower, and even that seemed to have mold within the grout in some places. They definitely need a cleaning crew that pays more attention to detail. For what we are forced to pay for a cleaning fee, I expected better conditions. The kitchen was missing some key items; measuring cups, cookie sheets, more than 1 spatula, a big pan, etc. We bought a cheap set of measuring cups and left it. The worst part was the air conditioner. It did not work upstairs. It could not get below 78. When we called the owner to get out problems addressed, they couldn't be reached. The husband was out of the country and the wife could care less. The gentlemen who books the properties for them got back to us quickly. He said he didn't normally do this, but he contacted a maintenance man, an air conditioner guy, and a landscaping company to address out problems. The air conditioner guy came, and he gave us a quick fix to help the house cool a little more, but he said both air conditioners needed to be replaced before the summer ended. The landscaping guys did a great job with trimming the palm trees and it was much easier to walk up the stairs. All in all, this was an okay rental. It definitely needs updating and some TLC.It needs owners who actually care about their properties. Beach homes need care and these owners didn't. I would not recommend this house to anyone, and I would never rent from these owners again. For the money you pay, you expect a rental that is kept up."

The owners have now hired their booking agent to also manage the property. Thank you for your helpful criticisms. The AC has now been replaced with a top of the line Bryant dual-zone unit. The sliding glass door is working better, and is scheduled to be replaced when convenient. The kitchen has been re-stocked with necessary items (there were measuring cups in another drawer). The pool was perfectly clean when I inspected it the following weekend; perhaps there were leaves that had blown in or perhaps the cleaning crew just messed up. I wish I had received a call right away. We are committed to making this a vacation property that will be enjoyed by guests who will leave with great memories. The Property Manager

Great location

"The location is very nice. Just cross the street and down a short walk way and you are at the beach. The beach is wonderful and not crowded at all. The house was fine but not fantastic. Much of the house and pool area is beat up and a little run down. We loved being able to bring our dog. We had a wonderful vacation."

We just gave the house a deep cleaning, and we are in the process of updating items that need updating.

Shabby house

"We stayed there in early 9/2013. House is very run down. Needs painting inside and out. Bed linens and pillows need replacing. Pool was dirty when we arrived on Saturday, but was clean on Monday. Screens were torn, screen door on porch was broken. One TV broken in large upstairs bedroom. This list could go on and on. Beautiful location and short walk to the beach. House is about $400.00 a week overpriced for its condition."

We are sorry the house was in the condition in which you found it, some previous guests had been extremely rough on it, and it wasn't properly prepared for the busy season this spring. The porch screens have been replaced. The pool is serviced weekly; windy weather can blow a lot of sand and leaves into the pool. A deep cleaning was performed this week, my best cleaner spent 4 days straight on it! When she says it has a sparkle and shine now, you can believe it. This has been a very busy season, and the owner is meeting with me in a few days to address more issues. We are taking your criticisms to heart, and hope you come back next year to see the dramatic improvements. Thank you.

location is perfect

"Our extended family with 4 kids and 8 adults (and two dogs) enjoyed a nearly perfect week on the Isle of Palms. We have stayed at the beach before but as a Wild Dunes guest and were delighted to be able to enjoy the beach at a much lower cost. The house is sufficient and in need of some TLC, however, the location is wonderful so that you do not have to make an "all day" commitment to the beach. We could go for a couple hours, come back to eat or swim, then head back in the evening to the beach. The pool was also wonderful and the children enjoyed that more than the ocean. Our favorite feature of the house was the screened in porch. We used that more than the indoor living more. We would definitely go again."

Thanksgiving Family Reunion

"I can't say enough good things about our stay. The house was spacious enough to give us all plenty of room. We especially loved the family room downstairs so all the kids could have their space to play. The kitchen accommodated us all quite well considering the food prep and the large table was perfect for game night. The beach was literally a 5 minute walk so it's location was perfect too. I'll definitely be staying there again. On an even better note, Dave Rockie was wonderful to work with...he was available at any time even for directions on the day of our arrival. He is the truest example of customer service! Loved our stay and loved how special we were treated."

This proves our efforts in improving this property are being noticed. Thank you.

Not the best place I've chosen for a family vacation.

"House was old and needed updating. There was mold on the walls of the bathrooms that had been painted over. All of the kitchen appliances were so old they barely worked. The microwave sounded like it would explode. There were cockroaches in the cabinets and ants all over the kitchen. The ants outside were so bad we were getting bitten just walking to our cars. The any problem was taken care of about 3 days into our stay but they eventually came right back. The furniture and beds were fine. We loved having the pool and the location was great although it was on a main road and there was a lot of traffic and noise. Overall it was completely overpriced and run down."

This house is not brand new, but the owner is constantly updating it. If you want everything brand new, plan on paying much more for a house this large, with its own pool, within 500 ft. of the ocean. To say "the kitchen appliances were so old they barely worked", I would say they are older but work fine.

Business Professional

"Proximity to the beach was fantastic & the house comfortably fit all of us! The patio was great & we loved our first time experience at Isle of Palms. David / iTrip was so easy to work with & very helpful! We'll certainly be returning!"
